Good morning and happy Monday!
Well, it's finally here - the big relaunch! Construction dust is settling (we still need to expand the countryside rentals, but that's about it!), rentals are situated, lore and races are updated, are we are open for roleplay! Let's go over the changes, and how they might affect you...
Sim
If you've been around in the last week, you've seen some BIG changes. Huge. Bigly (ahem. moving on...). If you haven't been around, what the heck are you waiting for? When you arrive by boat, you'll see:
- The core of the sim, the shops, are the same
- New buildings include: welcome center, pub, witches cabin, a whole warehouse district, a wharf, church, bank, courthouse, reanimation tower, conservatory, observatory
-Buildings that went away - the train station, the theater (one can be temp-rezzed for special events), the asylum (it's a sky box now, look for the driver that takes you there!), the wood shop cabin (has been moved to a proper shop in town), "snob hill" (rentals have moved; see below)
- New faction areas for vampires, lycans, demons, and cultists. But we're not telling you where - you need to come and explore! :)
Lore and Races
All have been updated, for the better we hope! There's so much to list though, so pretty please, go check out the website:

Roleplay
Yes, Abingdon got a lot darker. Yes, we're looking for a bigger horror factor. NO, you don't have to participate! Don't like that aspect? Well, it's still a beautiful Victorian era sim. If you're offered an opportunity to participate in a scenario, you are never obligated to take it! The most important thing is that you enjoy the roleplay and that you feel at home with us. Again, if you need help, contact Sim Support!
Meters
Shed those meters and run freeeeeee! We are keeping the Unity experience, but we are doing away with the meters. They're bulky, and really detract from the free-form RP that we know people really like. We may revisit this later, but for now, we are adding stats to titlers and picks. Come to the Welcome Center and get your new titler and dice hud from the sign that reads "Abingdon's RP Tools", Attach the new items, and read through the enclosed notecard. And as always... you know how to reach us if you need us!
Sim Support
Again, if you've visited in the last week, you've seen that we've restructured leadership in Abingdon. No more tiers, no more split responsibility. Staff are all known as Sim Support now. Anyone on the staff can assist you at any time! There may be the rare occasion that we refer you to someone else if we've already got our hands full, but we promise to communicate that clearly and promptly.
Rentals
- New Casperlet system - rental meters are on the actual properties now. If you're looking for a rental, or to renew one you already have, check out the doorsteps first.
- The slums have been split, so the bottom floors are now separate rentals (with the exception of the two that were already rented - those remain the same). Looking for a small place to throw down 50 prims? Look for the lower levels in the slums.
-MIddle class remains the same.
-Upper class has been relocated, for the most part. There are three, three-story brownstones on the game floor. All of the houses have been moved to the countryside (skybox). That area will be expanded - so if you were hoping for a rental up there, let staff know as soon as possible so we can get that set up for you!
Beware - staff will be scrubbing the rental group this week! If you're not currently renting, or you're not a business owner, you will be removed from the group and your items will be returned to you. If this is done in error, just report it to Sim Support and we'll get it fixed right away. Thanks for understanding!
If you have any questions or concerns, ideas for events or shops, and anything, really... please don't hesitate to reach out! Thank you for bearing with all the changes and being a part of Abingdon!
